Protect and regenerate forests.
Empower Indigenous stewards.
Invest in living nature.
Invest in the world's most valuable ecosystems alongside nature’s most proven stewards.
We are an Indigenous nature regeneration cooperative. We take genuinely at-risk forests, legally protect them, and return them to the regenerative care of their ancestral guardians, as profitable living forests, generating income from carbon and ecosystem services.
You can invest in this global network of living forests alongside the communities that have been their stewards for thousands of years. Kwaxala’s Living Forest Shares deliver equitable and transparent returns, both for our Indigenous owners, and for mindful investors looking to play an active part in counterbalancing humanity’s impact on our planet.
Living Forest Shares - A direct investment into our Living Forest network.
Our Living Forest Shares enable forward thinking investors to make an impact investment directly into our Living Forest Portfolio in deep partnership with our Indigenous cooperative partners.
Invest in specific forest areas while benefiting from portfolio-wide returns, balancing risk with direct impact.
The Centree profiling model incentivizes old growth forest preservation, supporting these vital ancient ecosystems (details at centree.org).
Ideal for long-term asset holding in essential ecosystems, providing counterbalance to harmful economic forces and yielding attractive returns.
Investors may receive returns as offset shares, making them a valuable balance sheet asset for organizations securing future offset supply.
Premium Carbon Credits - Offsetting much more than just your emissions.
Our protected forests generate an annual supply of premium Indigenous-originated nature-based carbon offsets. Our industry-leading provenance and co-benefits help buyers demonstrate a full spectrum of positive impacts with every tonne of carbon. Our cooperative structure and protected forests sequester carbon, protect biodiversity, create social equity, improve our soil, clean our water and purify our air. You can too by purchasing our offsets.
A totally new approach.
The way we are building our cooperative, forest network and living forest investment portfolio are all unique. You can dig deeper in other sections of our site or reach out to find out more, but one key part of our model is that we do not rely on land purchase to protect forests. We create the legal right to regenerate them and recognise it as the plainly valuable asset to humanity that it is. A very effective way to do this is to buy the existing rights to killing the forests (i.e. logging rights) and then converting them to the right to regenerate. As a result we are protecting the world’s most genuinely at risk ecosystems for a fraction of the cost of land purchase and our model is highly scalable as well as globally applicable on both public and private land areas. For the first time it puts nature and its regeneration on a level playing field with the economic forces that threaten it.
M̓ac̓inuxʷ Special Forest Area. The Kwaxala model in action.
British Columbia, Canada
140,000 Acres/55,000 Hectares
Our pilot project sees a coastal rainforest area the same size as the Redwood National Park in California being transferred from the logging industry back into the stewardship and control of the Kwiakah First Nation, our founding Indigenous partner, for the first time in well over a hundred years. An area of breathtaking natural beauty containing significant portions of old growth primary forest that is, to name a few, home of both grizzly and black bear as well as wolves, elk, eagles and watersheds for spawning grounds of all five pacific salmon. This groundbreaking pilot is the first time that a BC logging license has been privately retired and then restructured as a regenerative economic asset that can create revenue annually from eco services, such as carbon sequestration, in the place of lumber. This shows how the protection and regeneration of forests (in BC and everywhere) can be transformed into a genuine economic and job creating opportunity, rather than using current costly methods of conservation.
A new opportunity for all types of land title holders.
Our model is structured to turn at-risk forests into legally protected areas that act as long-term economic assets for land title holders in a much more powerful way than just carbon offset revenues. It is about breaking extraction’s economic monopoly on revenue generation from forests, and creating more evolved ways to commercialize and invest in living nature. Our protected forests generate income that, first and foremost, funds jobs and activity in the forests themselves, creating a genuine economic alternative to traditional forestry. All the work on location to monitor, steward and proactively regenerate the forests helps increase the ongoing income streams that can be generated through offset sales. This takes the pressure off governments, corporations, individuals and communities to benefit the whole planet at their local cost through conservation and mobilizes humanity’s global investment capacity to channel capital directly into these at risk yet critical natural ecosystems.
